Guinness World Records on Mobile Phones

Guinness World Records TV (GWR TV) says that it is partnering with mobile content provider, Snax, to develop mobile video content from existing GWR TV programming. The deal is for the development of - and exclusive rights to - 40 X 30-90 second clips for distribution via mobile networks in the UK, USA, Philippines and South Africa, we well as directly to consumers through GWR's WAP site.

"This deal is part of our ongoing strategy to explore new ways of expanding the presence of the Guinness World Records brand," says Rob Molloy, TV sales manager, GWR TV. "Developing mobile content will increase the accessibility of GWR content in the form of bite-sized Guinness World Records. We'll be closely monitoring the success of this initial campaign with a view to rolling out more content across more countries."

GWR TV and Snax have carefully selected content that will be easy to view on mobile phone screens. Extreme sports record attempts, such as balancing cars and BMX stunts, have proven particularly suitable. The GWR TV archive contains over 400 hours of programming from shows such as Ultimate Guinness World Records, Australia's Guinness World Records, and Guinness World Records: 50 Years, 50 Records, with thousands of record attempts to choose from.

"Snax is leading the mobile video industry by identifying global brands that work on mobiles, across platforms and regardless of language, so who better than Guinness World Records to work as a global mobile video brand,'' said Philip Bourchier-O'Ferrall, board member at Snax Media. "We ensure that traditional TV editing and production values are applied to mobile content to ensure a compelling user experience.''"
