MOSCOW, Sep 1 (Prime-Tass) -- The net profit of Russia?s second largest mobile operator VimpelCom increased 22.7% on the year to US$194.946 million in April-June as calculated under US GAAP, the company said in a press release Friday.
The company's net profit in January-March amounted to $150.223 million.
The overall monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) fell 3.8% on the year in April-June to $7.5, VimpelCom said, adding that ARPU in Russia stood at $7.4, down 2.6% on the year.
VimpelCom's total subscriber base rose to 50.822 million users as of July 1 from 35.102 million users as of July 1, 2005, the company said.
In 2005, the net profit of VimpelCom increased 75.6% on the year to $615.131 million.
VimpelCom is a leading telecommunications operator in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), having operations in Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
