Authorities Pressure Telcos to Improve Customer Service
Argentine telecoms authorities have asked telcos to improve their client support center facilities in a bid to reduce customer complaints, local press reported.
The telecoms ministry SeCom, telecoms watchdog CNC and the government of the Buenos Aires province made the request to Personal, a unit of Telecom Argentina, Movistar, the local unit of Spain's Telefónica, and CTI, owned by Mexico's América Móvil.
The telcos have said they will introduce reforms to improve client-related services.
"Companies have committed themselves to improve customer services as well as providing solutions to the complaints," local press reported Buenos Aires production minister Débora Georgi as saying.
The Buenos Aires's consumer protection agency said that nearly 30% of the 10,700 complaints it received in the first six months of the year were related to mobile and fixed line telephony.
