Sprint Nextel Gets $1 Million Settlement In Call Records Case
Sprint Nextel Corp. on Thursday said it has secured a $1 million settlement from data broker 1st Source Information Specialists Inc.
The Reston, Va.-based telecommunications company had filed a lawsuit against 1st Source alleging that the data broker employed fraudulent tactics to access and sell call detail records.
Additionally, Sprint Nextel said it has sent cease and desist letters to other companies that have advertised their ability to obtain call detail records or other private customer information.
A lawsuit the company filed in March against another data broker, San Marco & Associates, is still pending.
