Island Operator Passes Subscriber Milestone
The Guernsey (Channel Islands, UK) based new entrant, Wave Telecom says that it recently signed up its 10,000th mobile customer. A wholly owned subsidiary of the Jersey Telecom Group, Wave Telecom Limited was granted licences by the Office of Utility Regulation to operate fixed telecommunication services from November 2002 and mobile telecommunications services from March 2003 to, from and within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Tim Ringsdore, Managing Director of Wave Telecom, said, "I am very proud of what my team has achieved. To gain 10,000 mobile customers in just two years is a fantastic achievement. We have worked hard to create a high quality network, and to have reached this milestone so quickly is all the proof we need to show how popular our network is with Islanders."
The Mobile World notes that the incumbent operator, Guernsey Telecom has around 47,000 subscribers. Wave Telecom now has about a 20% market share."
