Moldovan Cell Operator Moldcell to Invest $55 Mln over 5 Years

CHISINAU, Aug 7 (Prime-Tass) -- Moldovan mobile operator Moldcell plans to invest US$55 million in its operations over the coming five years, Erdal Durukan, president of TeliaSonera Euroasia and CEO of Fintur Holdings, said at a meeting with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin Monday.

Moldcell is 99%-owned by Fintur Holdings, which is controlled by Swedish-Finnish telecommunications operator TeliaSonera and Turkey's leading mobile operator, Turkcell.

Fintur Holdings' investments in Moldcell amounted to over $74 million since April 2000, when the operator started its operations.

Moldcell had 444,300 users as of April 1, according to Moldova?s National Agency for Telecommunications and Information Regulation.
