Five Companies To Bid For Macau 3G Licenses
HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--At least five companies have tendered applications to bid for three third-generation wireless telecommunications licenses in Macau, Chinese-language newspapers reported Saturday.
Smartone Telecommunications Holdings, a unit of Hutchison Telecommunications International and Macau Unicom, the Macau unit of China Unicom are among the five companies, the newspapers reported.
The other two operators were Macau companies Companhia de Telecomunicacoes de Macau and Kong Seng Paging, the newspapers said.
Macau will release the names of the bidders Tuesday and announce winners of the licenses Oct. 20.
