The number of mobile telephone users in Brazil fell to 91.8 million in June from 92.4 million in May, a fall of 0.67%, according to data released Friday on the website of Brazilian telecommunications regulator Anatel.

This is the first time the number of cell phone users has fallen from one month to another in Brazil since Anatel started tracking such data in 1999.

In related news, Brazil's largest mobile operator Vivo said on Friday in its 2Q earnings release that it had cut off 1.8 million accounts that were either inactive due to fraud or running up debts.
