Court to Hear VimpelCom's Lawsuit Vs Frequency Commission Aug 21

MOSCOW, July 21 (Prime-Tass) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court scheduled on Friday for August 21 the hearings of a lawsuit filed by Russia?s second largest mobile operator VimpelCom against the State Radio Frequency Commission for disobeying a ruling of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).

The antitrust regulator had ordered the commission to cancel its decision that rejected an application by one of VimpelCom?s subsidiaries for radio frequencies and to re-consider the application.

VimpelCom is seeking to get full license coverage in the Far East Federal District. At the moment VimpelCom operates only in four out of 13 regions in the district, which has the lowest penetration rate among the seven federal districts in Russia. Of Russia's 143 million people, the Far East Federal District's population accounts for slightly more than 6 million people.
