Digicel Extends to Turks & Caicos

The pan-Caribbean operator, Digicel says that it has launched its services in the Turks & Caicos islands. Nine Digicel retail stores and 113 top-up locations opened simultaneously today throughout the country. The company has invested over US$15 million in building out its network.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Digicel flagship store in Graceway Plaza, Digicel CEO, Mr. Oliver Chatten, said: "We are really excited about launching in Turks & Caicos and welcome the people of Turks & Caicos to the Digicel family. With our industry leading service and unmatched customer care we are committed to becoming the number one mobile provider in Turks & Caicos and look forward to building strong relationships of trust and respect with our new customers through our superior offerings and active participation in this vibrant community."

Hon. Jeffrey Hall, Minister of Communication Works & Utilities, commented on the dynamic company's launch: "We welcome Digicel to Turks and Caicos and are confident that given its positive track record across the region, Digicel will play an invaluable role in driving mobile telecommunications forward in our country."

Since receiving a license in Turks & Caicos in March 2006, Digicel has established a robust GSM network with technology partner Ericsson."
