Could CDMA Emissions Cause Hurricanes?
Well, not quite - but thanks to a press release from Verizon Wireless with a long email subject line and a smaller PC screen, the email was truncated into a more suggestive title, as you can see in the image below. As it happens, the US operator was letting us know how happy customers were with the operator's performance during last years hurricane season, not how good they are at creating them in the first place. Now that certainly would be a first for the CDMA technology.

Verizon Wireless says that their ongoing network preparations helped the company quickly swing into action to maintain and restore wireless service in affected areas. The operator says that it also donated phones and wireless service and set up emergency communication centers to help evacuees place calls, re-charge their phones and receive technical support and customer service, free of charge.
Throughout the 2005 hurricane season, Verizon Wireless says that it received numerous letters from Gulf Coast and Florida customers who praised the reliability of the company's wireless network.
One such customer, Cheli Strumila of Gulfport, Miss., wrote, "I am a victim of Hurricane Katrina. I want to commend you and Verizon Wireless for your outstanding service during this devastating tragedy here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!! ...Verizon Wireless ~ Working for Victims of Hurricane Katrina!!"
Verizon Wireless has invested US$30 billion in the last six years -- US$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
Oh - if you wanted to know, the e-mail subject line in full was "Customers Praise Verizon Wireless Network For Reliable Hurricane Season Performance""
