Russian Tariff Service Sets Fixed-to-mobile Tariffs at 1.5 Rbl/min

MOSCOW, June 19 (Prime-Tass) -- Russia's Federal Tariff Service has set the maximum tariff for fixed-to-mobile calls at 1.5 rubles per minute, the service said in a statement Monday.

The maximum tariff is the same in all Russian regions with several exceptions.

The tariffs take effect on July 1, following the introduction of the Calling Party Pays (CPP) principle.

The fixed-to-mobile tariffs will be introduced for fixed-line operators with a dominant position on the market, including seven major regional fixed-line operators, subsidiaries of Russia's national telecom holding Svyazinvest and fixed-line operator Moscow City Telephone Network, or MGTS.

CPP is likely to lead to a hike in tariffs for outgoing calls from mobile phones, mobile operators said earlier.
