Moldovan Govt to Sell License for 3G Mobile Services
CHISINAU, June 16 (Prime-Tass) -- The Moldovan government plans to sell a license for third generation (3G) mobile services for U.S. $8 million, a spokesman with the government told Prime-Tass earlier this week without providing a timeline.
The buyer will have to pay $4 million up front and the remaining $4 million within 24 months, the spokesman said.
The government has approved using a 450MHz frequency range in the CDMA standard for providing 3G services, the spokesman said.
In May 2005, Moldova announced a tender for a 3G license, but it was suspended at the request of the General Prosecutor?s Office, due to alleged violations in the terms of the tender.
Moldova has two GSM mobile operators, Voxtel and Moldcell.
