3G License Tender for Slovenia

Slovenia's telecoms regulator, the Agency for Post and Electronic Communications (APEK) has published a tender for three further 3G licenses. There is a reserve price of US$7.9 million each. Simobil, and the recently-established Tus mobil are both expected to bid for the licenses, although the regulator is hoping to encourage a foreign investor into the country as well. Mobitel has a 3G license, having been award it in 2001.

"Currently the price is as it is. I think it is realistic, motivating enough for foreign investors," the head of APEK Tomaz Simonic told STA last week, "I would also like to see a foreign company apply," he revealed.

The tender will close on 1 September."
