C2 Global Unit Files VoIP Patent Suit Vs Telcos

C2 Global Technologies's, C2 Communications Technologies subsidiary has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in a Texas court against a number of telecommunications companies.

The suit, related to services and systems that use Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, has been filed against AT&T, Verizon Communications, Qwest Communications, Bellsouth, Sprint Nextel, Global Crossing and Level 3 Communications.

C2 is alleging infringement of U.S. Patent No. 6,243,373, entitled "Method and Apparatus for Implementing a Computer Network/Internet Telephone System".

C2 Global Technologies, which is focused on licensing its patents, is a subsidiary of Counsel Corp.
