3G Operator, Xfera Signs National Roaming Deal"

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Swedish telecom operator TeliaSonera's Spanish unit Xfera has signed a national roaming agreement with Vodafone's unit in Spain, company spokesman Michael Kongstad said Thursday.

He said the plan is to follow license conditions and have commercial operations before the end of 2006.

Kongstad declined to specify how the company will position itself in the market.

"For competitive reasons we will not talk about that now," Kongstad said.

He said the SEK9 billion ($1.2 billion) the company plans to invest over the next five years will cover technical investments in the network and commercial investments to build a customer base.
