Motorola Signs David Beckham for Advertising
Motorola has signed one of the hottest properties in professional football as a global brand ambassador. The three-year collaboration with the UK footballer, David Beckham will kick-off with major activities across Asia including advertising appearances and extensive retail promotions rolled out across the network of Motorola stores and distributors throughout the region.
The deal also includes the ability to embed exclusive Beckham content -- such as screen savers and video clips of the star in action -- in Motorola handsets. Beckham will commence his brand ambassador role with immediate effect and will be seen exclusively carrying Motorola products during the current World Cup Soccer campaign.
Beckham will also be supporting important Motorola initiatives including the newly launched (MOTO)RED mobile phone created to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Beckham will signal his public support for this campaign, in addition to his ongoing UNICEF activities, to encourage his numerous fans to make a difference and help in the fight to combat the disease.
Jeremy Dale, VP of Retail Marketing at Motorola Mobile Devices said, "We're very excited about this collaboration for ourselves, our customers and our consumers. David Beckham is a global icon and we look forward to working with him across a range of projects. In particular, we're delighted that he'll be using his immense popularity to help promote (MOTO)RED."
David Beckham was the "face of Vodafone" for some years, becoming so well known for the branding association that customers would go into Vodafone stores and ask for the "Beckham Phone" - a Sharp GX10 model he regularly used in television adverts."
