MTC Available to Review Telephony Concession Contracts
Peru's transport and communications ministry MTC is open to hold meetings with local operators to review their concession contracts with a view to reducing rates, newspaper Gestión quoted MTC head Juan Antonio Pacheco as saying.
"There is always room to talk about this issue," Pacheco said in the report.
Commenting on investments in the sector, Pacheco said companies have already invested 30% of total investments planned for this year, which are expected to reach US$450mn. Most of these resources have been earmarked for the mobile sector.
In the fixed line area, Pacheco said most of the resources will be invested in expanding networks to support demand for broadband.
Finally, Pacheco said the tender for a fifth mobile license is expected to take place this or next half.
