Manx Accredited for Mobile and Landline Billing Services
Manx Telecom, which operates on the Isle of Man next to the UK, says that it has become the first telecommunications company in the world to gain BABT accreditation for both its fixed and mobile billing. BABT - British Approvals Board of Telecommunications - is the standard recognised worldwide which gives customers an assurance of accuracy in billing and pricing for telecommunications products and services. Gaining accreditation was a condition of Manx Telecom's new licence, granted in January 2003.
John Shimmin, Minister for Home Affairs and Chairman of the Communications Commission said: "I am delighted but not surprised that Manx Telecom has been successful in achieving this high standard of accreditation, evidencing their continual desire to reach world-class standards in all their affairs."
Jean-Louis Evans, Managing Director TUV Product Service / BABT, said: "I think it's a great achievement for Manx Telecom. It has taken a lot of hard work within the teams to get accreditation within a comparatively short space of time."
To gain the accreditation Manx Telecom had to demonstrate that all the systems that supported the bill production process were capable of achieving high levels of accuracy and consistency. This resulted in a Company wide evaluation of the current operation, identifying and correcting any areas that failed to meet the stringent standards laid down by the Standard.
Paul Atkinson, Revenue Assurance Manager at Manx Telecom, led the team which worked towards gaining the accreditation. He said: "This is a significant achievement which recognises the continual focus that we give to providing our Customers with an excellent service."
