TIM Offers Blackberry 8700g to Individuals, SMEs"

Brazilian mobile operator TIM has started to offer the Blackberry 8700g handset to individual customers, TIM said in a statement.

"We are offering the Blackberry to individual people and small and medium sized businesses," TIM's press officer Jacqueline Breitinger told BNamericas.

The official would not reveal the unit's targets for sales of the Blackberry.

The Blackberry device contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF readers, as well as access to internet. The handset costs 1,500 reais (about US$700) for postpaid clients, with a service cost of 69.90 reais.

The Blackberry will function in 2,360 cities where TIM has coverage in Brazil. TIM already offers Blackberry to corporate customers.
