SingTel Says Mobile Subscribers Total 85 Million At End Of March

SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Singapore Telecommunications said it had 85 million mobile telephone customers at the end of the March, a gain of 7.21 million from the end of 2005.

SingTel's regional mobile associates had 76.86 million customers, a gain of nearly 7 million from 69.87 million at the end of the December, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

Optus, the Australian unit of SingTel, had 6.49 million mobile customers, up from 6.3 million at the end of December.

In Singapore, SingTel had 1.66 million mobile customers, up slightly from 1.62 million at the end of 2005.
