Ericsson Wins Caribbean GSM Contract
The pan-Caribbean operator, Digicel says that it has chosen Ericsson as its exclusive infrastructure provider for establishing a GSM mobile network in Turks & Caicos. Digicel was awarded a license to operate in Turks & Caicos on April 3. Since Digicel's launch in 2001, Ericsson has been the company's preferred vendor and strategic partner in delivering network infrastructure to Digicel throughout the Caribbean in regions including St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, Aruba, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago.
"By extending our long-standing partnership with Ericsson into Turks & Caicos, we will ensure the development of an industry-leading infrastructure that enables telecommunications innovations and delivers dependable network coverage for customers," said Colm Delves, CEO of Digicel Group. "Spread over many small islands, Turks & Caicos offers a tremendous opportunity for us to connect families and friends through a wide-range of advanced GSM services."
Digicel TCI has its local management team in place and is poised to lead the mobile telecommunications market, offering competitive rates, enhanced customer service, unbeatable coverage and a wide variety of products."
