Investments in Moldova's Telecom Sector Up 46.8% on Yr in 2005

CHISINAU, April 19 (Prime-Tass) -- Investments in Moldova's telecommunications industry rose 46.8% on the year to 1.21 billion lei in 2005, Moldova?s National Agency for Telecommunications and Information Regulation said in a report obtained by Prime-Tass Wednesday.

Of the total, fixed-line companies accounted for 680.9 million lei, up 50.6% on the year, mobile companies accounted for 449.3 million lei, up 36.3% on the year, Internet providers accounted for 68.9 million lei, up from 24.2 million lei in 2004, and TV providers accounted for 11.5 million lei, the agency said, without providing a comparison for the latter.

The agency projected investments to increase in 2006, mainly due to investments in mobile and Internet services.
