Telecom Services Revenue in Ukraine Up 18.9% on Year Jan-Mar

KIEV, April 19 (Prime-Tass) -- Revenue from telecommunications services in Ukraine rose 18.9% on the year to 6.968 billion hryvnas in January-March, according to the preliminary data of Ukraine's State Statistics Committee.

Of the total, revenue from mobile services rose 35.8% on the year to 3.77 billion hryvnas in January-March, the committee said. The figure includes revenue from mobile phone services, which rose 35.9% on the year to 3.765 billion hryvnas, and revenue from paging and tranking services, which fell 4.1% on the year to 1.554 billion hryvnas.

Revenue from long-distance fixed-line services increased 4.6% on the year to 1.513 billion hryvnas in the period.

Revenue from fixed-line services in cities dropped 4.4% on the year to 669 million hryvnas, while in rural areas revenue increased 1.7% on the year to 47.9 million hryvnas, the committee said.

Revenue from the transmission of television and radio programs and radio communications rose 33.3% on the year to 203.3 million hryvnas.

The revenue of Ukraine?s telecommunications sector rose 29.9% on the year to 27.443 billion hryvnas in 2005.
