Telecom Revenue in Kazakhstan Up 30% on Year in January-March
ASTANA, April 12 (Prime-Tass) -- Kazakh telecommunication companies provided services worth 61.3 billion tenge in January-March, or 30% up on the year, the national statistics agency said Wednesday.
Of the total, telecommunication companies provided services to individuals worth 22 billion tenge, or 39.5% up on the year.
Mobile services accounted for 44% of the total revenue of telecommunication companies in January-March, while domestic long-distance services accounted for 19.5%, local fixed-line services for 7.6% and Internet access services for 5%, the agency said.
Revenue from mobile telecommunications services rose 72.8% on the year, while revenue from Internet access services rose 50% on the year, the agency said, without providing absolute figures.
In 2005, Kazakh telecommunication companies provided services worth 216.7 billion tenge, up 27.7% on the year.
