MOSCOW, April 3 (Prime-Tass) -- Russian regional telecommunications operator Sibirtelecom has launched IMT-MC-450, or CDMA 2000, mobile services in the Tomsk Region, the company said in a press release Monday.

The services will be offered under the Wellcom brand, Sibirtelecom said, adding that the network was built based on equipment provided by China's Huawei Technologies.

The network capacity currently stands at 30,000 numbers and is expected to expand to 100,000 by the year-end, the company said, adding that it plans to sign up at least 2,000 users this year.

Sibirtelecom provides fixed-line and mobile services in the Siberian Federal District. Sibirtelecom's total mobile subscriber base rose about 100% in 2005 to 2.078 million people.

Sibirtelecom owns 100% of Baikalvestcom, Ulan-Udenskaya Sotovaya Svyaz, Yeniseitelecom, Sayantelecom, and Stek GSM, which are all mobile service providers in the Siberian Federal District.

Yeniseitelecom launched its CDMA 2000 network in the Krasnoyarsk Region in November 2005.

Russian government-controlled telecom holding Svyazinvest owns 50.67% in Sibirtelecom.
