UK Users Sent 99 Million Text Messages Daily In February

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The Mobile Data Association Monday said 2.7 billion texts were sent by UK mobile phone users during Feburary, an increase of 26% from the same period a year earlier.

U.K. mobile phone users sent, on average, 99 million text messages a day over the course of the month, the MDA said. It added that 120 million text messages were sent on Valentine's Day, compared to around 10 million cards.

A total of 32 billion texts were sent within the U.K. over 2005, in line with MDA forecasts. It predicts 36.5 billion texts will be send in 2006.
