CDMA Connections Suspended in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) says that it has decided to seek legal redress on the Direction issued to SLT by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka with regard to installation charges for telephone services based on CDMA fixed wireless technology, based on advice received from its legal counsel.
In view of above, Sri Lanka Telecom has suspended the provisioning of new SLT Citylink CDMA connections forthwith and regrets the inconvenience caused to the general public in this regard.
Prior to suspension of services, SLT was charging US$180 for a CDMA connection, to which the regulator objected and set a March 20 deadline to cut prices to US$117."
