PRESS: Russia's Euroset CEO Says to Sell Mobile Handsets for Cheap

MOSCOW, Mar 13 (Prime-Tass) -- Russia?s largest mobile handset retailer Euroset has directly imported 260,000 mobile handsets and plans to sell the batch at "very attractive prices," Euroset's Chairman Yevgeny Chichvarkin said, Biznes business daily reported Monday.

Most of the imported handsets were the Motorola C115 model, Chichvarkin said, adding that the company managed to get substantial discounts from producers. Chichvarkin did not provide the discount, at which the handsets would be sold on the market, saying that they would be sold at prices that existed before August 2005. Chichvarkin also did not say what other models would be sold at cheaper prices.

In August 2005, police seized several batches of mobile handsets allegedly imported illegally. Prices for handsets then jumped 15%-30% and some models disappeared from the market.

Market experts surveyed by the daily said that Euroset either bought the batch that was imported before August, or it bought mobile handsets that were seized by the police in August 2005.

Euroset currently sells the Motorola C115 model at 1,299 rubles.
