Vodafone Branded Guitars !

Vodafone, as sponsor of the Rock in Rio - Lisbon Festival, is to install three countdown displays in the form of 'giant guitars' at a number of sites in Lisbon. The guitars, which will be installed starting this week on the 2nd Ring Road, at Praca de Espanha and near Amoreiras Shopping Centre, will show the countdown to the start of the event.

Each of the displays weighs 9 tonnes and is 7 metres tall and 3 metres wide, and displays the number of days before the Festival starts. The guitars are made from fibreglass and polyester resin. They are painted red and have stainless steel strings and 450 cm by 60 cm LED panels.

Through sponsorship of this event, which fits perfectly into the brand's publicity and positioning strategy, Vodafone is repeating its association with the most important music event in Portugal in 2006 and continuing its practice of linking the brand to major music events in Portugal, as it did with Rock in Rio Lisbon 2004 and the MTV Europe Music Awards Lisbon 2005.

Rock in Rio - Lisbon will take place on 26 and 27 May and 2, 3 and 4 June in Bela Vista Park in Lisbon. Between 300,000 and 400,000 visitors are expected to attend to hear a wide array of the most famous Portuguese and foreign artists performing on various stages in what will be the biggest musical event of the year."
