Russia's SMARTS User Base Hits 3 Million As of Monday

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (Prime-Tass) -- The subscriber base of Russian regional mobile operator SMARTS hit 3 million users as of now, the company said in a press release Monday.

As of October 1, 2005, SMARTS' subscriber base stood at 2.6 million users.

SMARTS, or Middle-Volga Interregional Association of Radio and Telecommunication Systems, operates a GSM900/1800 standard network in 16 Russian regions, where 33.9 million people live, or 24% of the Russian population. These regions are located in the Volga, Southern and Central federal districts.
