CRT Names New Executive Director

Colombian telecoms regulator CRT has named Carlos Alberto Herrera Barros as its new executive director, replacing Gabriel Adolfo Jurado Parra, the country's communications ministry announced.

The appointment is a routine change that comes as a result of CRT's policy of rotating members of its expert committee every 16 months.

Herrera Barros has been with CRT since 1997, starting as head of the regulatory and competition office and then as coordinator of marketing processes. He was named an expert committee member in 2002 by Colombia's president.

Barros holds a degree in business law, a master's in international relations and a postgraduate degree in European studies.

Jurado Parra will continue to hold his post as a member of the expert committee.
