Illegal GSM Network Closed

Afghanistan's telecoms regulator has shut down an illegal GSM network which had been detected operating in the capital city, Kabul. H. E. Eng. A. Sangin Minister of Communications stated that T.R.B. Department of the Ministry of Communications in collaboration with the Afghanistan Wireless Communications Company (AWCC) detected this illegal telecommunications company named G & S Trading and Research LLC.

He stated that following this information Ministry of Communications informed related Counter Crime Department of the Ministry of Interior, Attorney General to investigate about this illegal telecommunications company.

Following research they found this illegal telecommunications company which was located in Wazir Akbar Khan, worked without legal permission and license from Ministry of Communications. He said that when police entered the house there was no one without a guard, and their equipments and all tools were seized and brought to the Ministry of Communications.

His Excellency stated that according to the Communications law article # 58; these kinds of companies would be fined in accordance with their work extension and area of Coverage from two millions till ten millions."
