Cingular Expands MMS Delivery

Aicent say that it has signed a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Interworking Service agreement with the USA based, Cingular Wireless whereby Aicent will offer its global MMS footprint to Cingular in establishing MMS interconnections with global mobile operators in North & South America, Europe and Asia. Global MMS implementation will start immediately.

Cingular has been using Aicent GRX service to offer international GPRS data roaming since 2004 and is now the first mobile operator to aggressively embark on global MMS interconnectivity in the U.S. With the GRX network-based MMS interoperability guidelines established by the GSM Association, the industry is experiencing much more successful and seamless interworking that directly fuels higher MMS user adoption and usage growth.

"We are excited to partner with Cingular to pave the way towards a truly interoperable mobile environment," said Lynn Liu, President and CEO of Aicent. "With more than 70 mobile operators in over 40 countries already commercially available from the Aicent MMS hub and more on the way, we look forward to assisting Cingular in expanding their MMS international coverage."
