Russian Mobile Operator NSS Plans to Invest over $23 Mln This Yr
MOSCOW, Feb 20 (Prime-Tass) -- Russian regional mobile operator Nizhegorodskaya Sotovaya Svyaz, or NSS, plans to invest over U.S. $23 million this year, NSS said on Monday.
NSS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Russian regional telecommunication operator VolgaTelecom.
Investments will be made to expand its capacity and coverage zone, improve the quality of its mobile services and develop additional services, the mobile operator said. The new services include EDGE technology, which will enable the company to increase the data transmission speed on the Internet, OTA technology, which will enable users to modify the content of SIM cards, and personalized Ring Back Tones (RBT) technology, the mobile operator said.
As of December 31, 2005, NSS' subscriber base stood at 1.044 million people and its share of the Nizhny Novgorod Region's market was at 39%, the company said.
NSS provides mobile services in Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region under GSM900 and GSM1800 standards.
