Research In Motion Gets Positive Ruling In UK InPro Case

WATERLOO, Ont. -(Dow Jones)- A London patent court has ruled in favor of Research In Motion Ltd. in a patent dispute with InPro, a patent-holding firm based in Luxembourg.

In a news release, RIM said the High Court of Justice - Chancery Division ruled that all patent claims in InPro's UK Patent EP 0892947B1 are invalid. The equivalent German Patent was found to be invalid earlier this week.

Research In Motion said InPro had alleged that certain BlackBerry products infringed the UK patent. InPro may seek permission to appeal the ruling.
