Motorola Employees Voice Doubts, Generally Optimistic"
Motorola employees harbor doubts about their company's future, although generally optimistic, New York research firm Vault has found in new employee surveys on the communications equipment giant. Says a marketing manager, "It is changing to be a lean company focused more on bottom line. Somewhat "old boyish" but progressive. Will have more fierce competition in the Semiconductor industry, may be able to respond more quickly with a more dynamic culture. Strengths - image in the industry, technology, and relationships. Weaknesses - on-time delivery and ability to adjust quickly. Distribution channel is solid as well as products and services
A senior staff SW engineer senior staff writes, "Unimaginable paging and cellular changes over the past 5 years. Exited paging business even though Research in Motion continues with its dedicated Blackberry following and short-range restaurant paging business continues. Closure of successful GSM handset development engineering site in 2004 defied logic and business wisdom. Not sure how Motorola will make any significant profits with its continued market share losses in the commodity cellular handset business."
A government accounts manager adds, "Increasing and exponential issues with maintaining old internal culture v. offshore competition. Motorola has issues with dwindling customer loyalty, high demand for predictable profits, and equity share value."
Neither Vault nor its employee surveys are endorsed by or affiliated with Motorola."
