Telenor: Tax Authorities Appeal Sonofon Ruling

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor, Monday said tax authorities have appealed an earlier court decision from December relating to tax which occurred from the intracompany sale of shares in Sonofon AS.

The court in December ruled in favor of Telenor.

The sale of Sonofon shares triggered a tax loss of around NOK8.6 billion, with corresponding reduced tax charges of around NOK2.4 billion for the fiscal year 2001.

The ruling by the court in December upheld a decision by the Oslo District Court from June 2004.
