LG Electronics has ordered a DRM platform from Norway's Beep Science to deploy OMA based digital rights management services in its handsets. LG has chosen Beep Science to assure the OMA v2 DRM interoperability of the LG mobile devices.
Beep Science says that it has participated in all the OMA Test Fests to ensure interoperability between its DRM platform and other vendors. The Beep Science DRM products supports OMA v1 DRM and OMA v2 DRM industry standards, and are being used by several device manufacturers and mobile operators.
"The commitment from leading handset manufacturers as LG Electronics to the OMA DRM standard is paving the way for a DRM enabled digital content ecosystem across mobile phones, PC and other consumer electronics", says Markku Mehtala, VP Business Development at Beep Science. "With a multitude of DRM enabled handsets in the market, the mobile operators and service providers may offer DRM protected content to consumers, assuring interoperability and ease-of-use for branded content like music, video and games"."
