Austria's mobilkom says that it plans to launch its HSDPA network in some districts of Vienna by the end of January and to begin sales of HSDPA data cards now. A free software upgrade to HSDPA for owners of the UMTS+EDGE data card will be introduced at the same time. A1 is also extending its special offers on mobile broadband. By the end of the second quarter, most provincial capitals in Austria will have HSDPA coverage. Depending on location, one or more high-speed technologies will be available.
"The new data card Vodafone Mobile Connect Card Broadband, the mobile access to high-speed Internet service brought to you by A1, will be available beginning on January 23rd," says Dr. Hannes Ametsreiter, Director of Marketing, Distribution and Customer Services for mobilkom austria. "We are very pleased that, with A1 HSDPA, we are the first network operator in Austria able to offer its customers the advantages of this new, fast technology".
The HSDPA Data Card is sold under the Vodafone brand name."
