O2 To Sponsor Formula 1 Racing Team
O2's German business has announced that it is to become an official partner of the BMW Sauber F1 Team from the start of the new motor racing season in March, this year. The O2 brand will appear on the BMW Sauber F1 cars as well as the helmet and suit of drivers Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve. In addition, O2 Germany will offer its customers a range of BMW Sauber mobile services, including exclusive content and picture messaging, as well as text alerts giving all the latest Formula 1 motor racing news and commentary.
Future plans include the introduction of a BMW Sauber mobile handset, which will be exclusive to O2 Germany customers. The deal builds on an existing agreement between the two Munich-based companies. BMW is a major corporate customer of O2 Germany's successful Genion service, enabling its employees to make mobile calls with reduced tariffs when they are within their work premises.
