Vietnam Post & Telecom Corp. 2005 Revenue Up 9% To $2.12 Billion
HANOI -(Dow Jones)- Vietnam's state-run Post & Telecommunications Corp., or VNPT, reported revenue of $2.12 billion for last year, up 9% on year, a company statement said Thursday.
VNPT is Vietnam's largest telecommunications firm and controls more than 90% of the market, it said.
Of the total revenue, VNPT paid more than VND5 trillion ($315 million) to state coffers. It didn't give comparative figures nor numbers for its profit.
During the year, VNPT added 3.27 million new telephone users, raising its total telephone customer base to 13 million, including 6.3 million fixed-line users and 6.7 million mobile users.
VNPT plans to invest VND35 trillion in the 2006-2010 period to have expand revenue by 10% annually during the period.
By 2010, Vietnam is expected to have 29 fixed telephone lines for every 100 people, it said.
