Two SIMs, One Phone Number"
Singapore's M1 is launching a service that enables its customers to have two SIM cards, but both sharing the same phone number. They can use this extra SIM card on another mobile device, including a datacard, a Blackberry, car phone, PDA or another mobile phone, without having to transfer their SIM card from one device to another. This is especially helpful if the devices are used separately for voice calls and wireless data access.
For example, a customer can access the Internet wirelessly on his laptop with the M1 Datacard, and at the same time, still be able to receive and make calls or send text with his mobile phone without disrupting his Internet access, and vice versa. Multi-SIM card will also prove useful to customers with car phones as they can answer their mobile calls using their car phone units while driving.
Essentially, the Multi-SIM service makes interchanging mobile devices effortless. As mobile communication is an important part of everyday life, this service provides a smooth and seamless transition between business and leisure. A busy executive who relies on his Blackberry or Personal Digital Assistance (PDA) in the day, can switch to a fashionable mobile phone in the night without the inconvenience of swopping SIM card.
"With an affluent society, it is not uncommon for more people to own multiple mobile devices these days. Hence, the Multi-SIM service is very relevant as it brings not only convenience to our customers, but it also helps them manage and use their mobile devices seamlessly," said M1's Chief Executive Officer, Neil Montefiore."
