Canadian WiFi Roaming Supplier Selected
Syniverse Technologies has been awarded a multi-year, multi-carrier contract to provide Mobile Data Roaming Services for the three Canadian carriers: Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and TELUS Mobility. These carriers recently announced an intercarrier agreement to launch a national Wi-Fi hotspot network, including plans to develop more than 500 new hotspot locations, offering cross-Canada Wi-Fi roaming under a common brand.
Syniverse will provide secure network transport and access between the carriers and connectivity to Syniverse's complete Mobile Data Roaming Service, which includes authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) capabilities, rating and reporting, clearing and settlement and virtual seamless integration with Syniverse's industry leading GSM-based GRX network to enable inter-standard data roaming.
"The goal of the Canadian Wi-Fi initiative is to spur the growth of Wi-Fi across the country by providing our more than 15 million wireless customers with ubiquitous services," said Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association President and CEO Peters Barnes. "Syniverse, with its impressive history as a facilitator of intercarrier relationships, has a proven track record in enabling Wi-Fi roaming. With their suite of Mobile Data Roaming Services in place, our subscribers can be assured that roaming will be seamless and their login details and account information will remain secure."
