Singapore's SingTel says that it is offering its customers the ability to use two mobile phone lines with only one SIM card and mobile phone with a new 2 in 1 SIM value added service. The new 2 in 1 SIM card stores two mobile numbers and will enable SingTel Mobile customers to make calls and send SMS' through either of the two mobile numbers from only one mobile phone.
The 2-in-1 SIM card works with one mobile phone number being "active" at a time. Customers will be able to receive all mobile calls and SMS' made to either of the phone numbers, as all incoming calls and SMS' made to the "inactive" mobile number will automatically be forwarded to the "active" mobile number. For incoming SMS', only customer-to-customer SMS' will be forwarded.
Mr Thomas Yeo, SingTel's Vice President, Consumer Marketing, said: "We are always looking at ways to help our customers reap efficiencies from the best that technology can offer through our value added services. The feedback from our discerning customers have enabled us to continue to offer a better customer experience."
Mr Yeo added: "Our mobile customers are busy individuals and many have more than one mobile phone line for work or business reasons. For them, the 2-in-1 SIM Card's main benefit is the ease of use that it offers because of the hassle free switching between two mobile numbers. The card will enable them to remain easily contactable with only one phone."
