Swisscom Confirms Talks With Eircom

ZURICH -(Dow Jones)- Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom AG Wednesday confirmed it was in talks with Eircom Group PLC about a potential takeover.

In a short statement, Swisscom said it considers various investment opportunities on a regular basis.

"Swisscom confirms that it has entered into discussions with Eircom in relation to a possible transaction", the company said.

"However, there can be no certainty that an offer will in fact be made. A further announcement will be made when appropriate", Swisscom added.
