Starent Networks Connects over 7 Billion Subscriber Data Calls
Starent Networks is celebrating its fifth birthday. Since its inception, the company has deployed its ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway in numerous CDMA2000 and UMTS networks, connecting more than 7 billion subscriber data calls.
Starent Networks has made significant progress in establishing itself as a major packet core infrastructure provider by deploying its solutions in many of the world's mobile operator networks. Deployments include the world's largest 3G network with KDDI, Verizon Wireless' nationwide 1xEV-DO deployment and providing equipment to one of the fastest-growing U.S. operators, Virgin Mobile U.S. The company's customer list includes: China Unicom, KDDI, Movilnet, Rural Cellular Corp. (Unicel), SK Telecom, U.S. Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico, Virgin Mobile U.S., VIVO, Zapp Mobile and over 20 others.
To date Starent equipment has successfully connected more than 7 billion customer calls and continues to connect several million calls each day. These connections highlight the nature of the ST16 platform, which provides a call completion rate of over 99.999 percent at some of the most demanding tier one mobile operators.
"The Starent team has dedicated five years to solid strategy and execution," said Ashraf Dahod, president and CEO of Starent Networks. "Our success can be traced to our people who are dedicated to innovation. Deployment of our solutions allows mobile operators to offer high-speed data services while also positioning carriers to migrate to IMS/MMD core networks."
"With the proliferation of 3G wireless services across the globe, carriers are always looking to deploy future-proof solutions that seamlessly deliver next-generation voice and data applications," said Peter Jarich, principal analyst with Current Analysis. "Over the past few years, a number of start-ups have attacked the PDSN/GGSN space, but have faded from view. Starent's continuing success is a testament to the credibility of its products and capabilities."
