Nokia: N70 Phone Is Shipping In High Volumes

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Nokia Corp.'s second mobile phone in its multimedia Nseries to hit stores has had a very good response from consumers and is shipping in large volumes, a company spokesman said Thursday.

The N70 phone has a music player, 2 megapixel camera and smartphone functions such as web browsing and e-mail.

"It's flying off the shelves," said Kari Tuutti, spokesman at Nokia's Multimedia unit. He declined to give sales figures.

Tuutti attributed the success of the N70 to a combination of design and features.

Nokia experienced some delays and initial delivery problems when it started shipping its first model in the Nseries, the N90.

Tuutti said there had been no problems with deliveries of the N70 after it started shipping at the end of September.

The N70 sells for around EUR450 without operator subsidies and taxes in Stockholm.
