SingTel Says It Wants To Increase Stake In India Bharti

SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (T48.SG) Friday said it wants to raise its 30.8% stake in Bharti Televentures Ltd., India's largest mobile operator.

"We are interested to increase our stake. It depends on the right price and conditions," a SingTel spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires.

The comments from SingTel, Southeast Asia's largest telephone company by market capitalization, come after Vodafone PLC earlier Friday said it had bought a 10% stake in Bharti Televentures for around US$1.5 billion.

SingTel holds its stake in Bharti Televentures through Bharti Telecom Ltd.
