Motorola Wins Brazilian CDMA Contract

Brazil's Vivo has extended its long-standing relationship with Motorola by granting an award to Motorola for further development of Vivo's CDMA network, additional Motorola SoftSwitches, and expansion of its CDMA 3G EV-DO mobile service. This award will help Vivo further the reach of its applications and Push-to-Talk over Cellular offering to customers in the states of Sao Paulo, Parana and Santa Catarina.

"As the largest mobile operator in the Southern Hemisphere, Vivo is setting the pace for network evolution," said Mauricio Gomes, general director for Motorola Networks in Brazil. "By continuing to adopt Motorola's open, standards based technology, Vivo is ensuring that it will have the flexibility and scalability to quickly bring its subscribers the reliable, comprehensive service portfolio they need to seamlessly communicate, regardless of application."

Already with initial deployments of its CDMA1xRTT service, Vivo customers have been able to access diverse entertainment, information and communication services including Vivo Torpedo SMS (cellular to cellular text messaging), Vivo Wap (mobile internet via cellular with instant messaging, e-mail, news services, etc.) and Chat da Vivo (chat environment with celebrities via Wap).

A portion of the revenue from this agreement was included in Motorola's Q3 2005 results."
